/ About Imelda
Meaningful conversations begin with genuine attention
Imelda van der Laan's work is rooted in attentive listening and the belief that genuine connection begins with presence. She is drawn to conversation as a space where people can slow down, reflect, and be met without judgment or expectation.
Guided by curiosity, discretion, and a deep respect for the complexity of human experience, she creates an environment where thoughts, questions, and perspectives can be explored freely. Her work is grounded in the conviction that being truly heard remains one of life's most valuable experiences.
Genuine listening is rare
Imelda's practice began with a simple recognition: the kind of attention many people quietly long for has become increasingly rare in everyday life.
In a culture that often rewards speed, productivity, and immediate answers, there are few spaces where people can speak openly without interruption, expectation, or judgment.
She believes that meaningful conversations have the power to build confidence, foster connection, and create space for reflection, personal growth, and a deeper understanding of ourselves and others.

THE PERSON BEHIND THE PRACTICE
A lifelong curiosity about people
"I grew up in the Netherlands and have a background in communication, having worked for many years as a communication advisor and graphic designer. I am endlessly curious about people, their stories, and the experiences that shape the way we move through life.
Today, I focus on what I enjoy most and do best: creating genuine connections where people feel truly seen, heard, and understood. My own experiences navigating life’s challenges have deepened my understanding of people and the moments that truly matter.
Outside of work, I enjoy horseback riding, working out, expressing my creativity, travelling, and dancing – especially salsa, bachata, and kizomba. I am also fascinated by Greek mythology, the Spanish language, and psychology. These interests continually inspire me and deepen my understanding of both myself and others."
A first exchange, at your own pace
Sessions are arranged by private enquiry. There is no intake form or questionnaire – only a brief exchange to see if it feels right.
